CHLORIDE – Saturday, March 16 is the date for Chloride’s annual St. Patrick’s celebration. Hosted by the Chloride Historical Society and the Special Events Committee this year’s events include an always zany parade down Tennessee Avenue, gunfights, gold panning, vendors, live music, and lots of other family friendly activities. It’s not too late to join the parade, contact Angie at (626) 483-4571 or Jeannie at (928) 565-9777 for an entry form. Vendors of all kinds are welcome on a first-come first-served basis. Speaking at Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s January 26 meeting was Velizar Iliev, a U.S. Olympian and World Champion. Born in Bulgaria, Iliev won multiple national titles there before moving to the USA and becoming an American citizen. Iliev was a three-time World Champion while in Bulgaria and won the 1999 Pan American Games. He became a volunteer fencing coach at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas,where he coached the Olympian Fencing Club. Ilev and his wife moved to Kingman recently and he will be opening Mohave Fencing Academy to be held at College Park Community Church…

KINGMAN – Kingman local Joseph Roehrick has made history after being one of the very few to be promoted to Cadet Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol and be awarded the General Carl A. Spaatz award on January 6. Joseph reached the highest rank possible after nearly a decade in the Civil Air Patrol.
