Anderson takes last minute plea deal

KINGMAN – Attorneys assembling Tuesday for jury selection for trial in Mohave County Superior Court resolved the case instead by plea agreement instead. Monte Anderson, 53, Kingman, pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent exposure involving an eight-year-old girl. A sexual conduct with a minor charge is dismissed. Public Defender Paul Amann said Anderson always denied engaging in any sexual activity with the girl, but conceded being naked in her presence on the three occasions in question. Sentencing is scheduled Jan. 2, though the plea deal stipulates punishment of 11.25 years in prison. Amann said Anderson is considered a repetitive…

Cyclist killed in cow crash

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City man was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was operating struck a cow north of Kingman last Thursday, Dec. 7, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said deputies responded at 6:15 p.m. to the accident in the vicinity of milepost 27 on Stockton Hill Road. The accident victim has been identified as Ryan Eckhardt, 64. Three perish in house fire

MOHAVE VALLEY –  Three adults were killed in a raging residential structure fire in Mohave Valley. Crews responding to the 2100 block of Lone Star Drive at 2:00 a.m. Sunday encountered a home fully engulfed by fire.  Mohave Valley Fire Department Fire Marshal Don Gibson said a male in his 20’s who was badly burned was outside the home when firefighters arrived on scene. BLM accepting permit applications for  off-highway races on Parker Racecourse  

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is accepting proposals for the available Special Recreation Permits (SRP), which are valid December 1, 2024, through February 28, 2025, for two competitive off-highway races on the Parker racecourse. Applications will be accepted through March 1, 2024.     All interested applicants must submit a complete SRP application package which includes:   SRP application form, operating plan addressing topics covered in the guidelines; and topographic maps addressing desired event course.  The operating plan must contain specific information relevant to the submitted application as this information is a condition of the permit.
