Mohave Valley fire victims identified

MOHAVE VALLEY – Authorities have released the names of three adults who perished in a Dec. 10 house fire in Mohave Valley following positive identification by the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the victims include Janell Norris, 53, Alexander Galvez, 54 and Meryia Loftin, 20, who was pregnant. Their bodies were found after crews extinguished the fire at the home in the 2100 block of Lone Star Dr. Mortensen said the 20-year-old man who survived the fire was hospitalized in Las Vegas for treatment of serious injuries. BULLHEAD CITY – Authorities have released the names of the five children who died in a Dec. 16 house fire in Bullhead City. Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said the victims of the fire that destroyed a duplex on Anna Circle were positively identified by the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office. Siblings killed in the fire were Elias Jones, 2, Freya Jones, 4, Zane Jones, 5 and John Jones, 13. Their 11-year-old cousin Henry Lewis also perished in the blaze. Fromelt said the father of the four siblings went grocery and Christmas gift shopping about 2.5-hours before the 4:54 p.m. fire….

KPD veteran officer fired

KINGMAN – A command staff member of the Kingman Police Department (KPD) is fighting for his job. City officials confirm that Police Lt. Danny Reed was notified that his employment was terminated on Dec. 20. City representatives indicated they were unable to provide information sought through a Public Records request given confidentiality that applies to personnel matters. Reed also declines comment at this time, but there is indication that some details may surface in the future. Reed is reportedly using a police association lawyer to pursue an appeal of his termination. Reed began his KPD career in Dec., 2005.
