Burro BBQ brings the city out

BULLHEAD CITY – The 73rd Annual Burro BBQ went off like clockwork last weekend with hundreds of guests attending the annual event that helps kick off the summer season. The event saw massive crowds Saturday as the pavilion in Rotary Park was packed with food aficionados who came out to sample this year’s offerings.  The Bullhead City Rotary Club presented the event once again this year with sponsorship from around the Tri-State including DOT Foods, Los Matadores, Western Arizona Medical Center, Tire Pros, Anderson Ford, Swanty’s Dodge/Jeep, Smart and Final and many more. Light the Night event sees 25 years

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Last week the Lake Havasu Fire Administration honored fallen firefighters with a five-day Light the Night tribute. The homage began on Wednesday, May 1 and ended on Sunday, May 5 at dusk at the Lake Havasu Fire Department Administration location, the London Bridge, and residents along with local businesses also participated in this nightly event.   The honoring was inspired by the National Fallen Firefighters tradition which was established 25 years ago. KSS-Taco Bell takes take first

Kingman’s traveling senior softball tournament team won the Ernie Jones Memorial over the weekend in Prescott. KSS-Taco Bell breezed undefeated through the bracket at 6-0. Coach Roy Heisner presented the Most Valuable Player honor to retired Arizona State Trooper Marty Harnisch. “Trooper” put on a hitting clinic, making only two outs in the six games. KSS-Taco Bell next travels to New Mexico for the Land of Enchantment Tournament in Albuquerque in June.

20 years for man who ran down officer

KINGMAN – A state trooper said his life is forever changed by getting run down by a vehicle driven by a serial fugitive. Trooper August Romanski recounted the traumatic encounter at Michael Malerba’s May 3 sentencing hearing. Malerba had allegedly fled three previous law enforcement pursuits that were terminated in the interest of public safety and he was a wanted man when authorities tracked him to a fast-food establishment in Kingman on April 21, 2023. Unidentified body located

BULLHEAD  CITY – The discovery of an unidentified body is under investigation by the Bullhead City Police Department. Agency spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said a man walking in a wash reported locating the remains of a man in a desert area off the Bullhead Parkway at about 8:20 p.m. on Monday, May 6. “There were no visible signs of trauma to suggest any foul play,” Fromelt said. “The cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
