Citizen of the Month named

Morgana Campbell of Blessed Unions Wedding Ministry was named Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s February Citizen of the Month (shown with Rotarian Mary K Clark and club president Karen Brown). Recycling group meets March 13

KINGMAN – A recently organized Kingman environmental group, Bring Your Own (BYO), has been established. BYO’s goal is to try to “de-trash” the city with particular emphasis on our relationship to plastics. BYO wants to familiarize individuals with the various ways available in the handling of plastics in their lives and their community.           The group’s goal is to encourage becoming  a more effective consumer by adopting BYO behavior, bringing your own BYO bag/container, for purchases, thus avoiding reliance on others  to provide such articles. Hopefully, BYO will expand and support  one’s customary activities to include a healthier and better relationship with plastic. An…

Sex torture convict to spend remainder of life in prison

KINGMAN – The case of a convicted killer who sexually tortured his wife and stepson four years ago ended Friday with a life prison sentence and a strong rebuke by a local judge. The wheelchair-bound Jerry Gilligan, 72, is not eligible for release from the Arizona Department of Corrections for 167.5 years. “You are simply pure evil,” Judge Billy Sipe told Gilligan. “You are now going to spend the rest of your life in prison and society will be much better off.” Gilligan was released from prison in 2014 after serving 25 years for the murder of his stepfather in…
