MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave College celebrated the official renaming of Firebird Field to Bighorns Field during a special ceremony held Oct. 10 before the men’s and women’s soccer games. The new name reflects the College’s athletic identity and marks another milestone for the growing soccer programs.
The name change was made possible through the support and efforts of the Mohave College Booster Club and the Mohave Bighorns, along with the collaboration of the City of Bullhead City, which worked with the College to make the renaming possible. The project also included the installation of a new Bighorns Field sign, which is visible during the day and illuminated at night.

“Bullhead City is proud to partner with Mohave College on this first-class facility,” said Toby Cotter, Bullhead City Manager. “Generations of athletes will utilize the stadium bringing pride to the College and community.”
The ceremony featured remarks from Mehdi Azarmi of Bullhead City Rotary, who spoke about the significance of the field renaming. Following his remarks, a group photo was taken with Mohave College soccer coaches, representatives from Bullhead City Rotary and College leadership to commemorate the occasion.
The newly named Bighorns Field serves as the home of Mohave College men’s and women’s soccer, providing a place for student athletes to compete while bringing together students, families and community members to support the Bighorns.
“Bighorns Field is a wonderful honor for our men’s and women’s soccer teams and reflects the community pride behind them,” said Mohave College Executive Director of Communications James Jarman. “We thank the Bighorns Athletics Booster Club and the City of Bullhead City, with special thanks to Booster President Mehdi Azarmi for his work on the name change and his partnership with the College and City to make our home field a terrific venue for NJCAA soccer. These efforts give our student-athletes a home they can be proud of and our fans a great place to cheer them on.”
Mohave College extends its appreciation to the Mohave College Booster Club, the Mohave Bighorns, the City of Bullhead City, Bullhead City Rotary and everyone involved in making the field renaming possible.
