KINGMAN – A local judge has rejected a plea agreement proposed for a Lake Havasu City woman charged in the starvation and blunt force trauma death of her toddler daughter. Judge Billy Sipe on Friday said he could not sign off on a deal reducing the case against Brittany Rodriquez, 27, to an attempted child abuse conviction. “I simply cannot accept a plea agreement that dismissed the homicide charges,” Judge Sipe said. “I take it very seriously whenever I’m dealing with a death of a child.” Punishment in the rejected plea deal involved a 5-10-year prison sentence, but Rodriquez once…

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s office has released the names of victims who died in separate crash and suspected suicide incidents. Two 13-year-old girls were killed when the quad they were riding was struck by a pickup truck whose driver fled the scene of the July 25 collision on Pierce Ferry Road in Dolan Springs. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Anita Mortensen identified the teens as Evelyn Arias, Dolan Springs, and Jocelyn Escamilla, Las Vegas. DOLAN SPRINGS – An assurance of a misdemeanor conviction is the main sticking point in plea negotiations involving a firefighter being prosecuted for embezzling more than $24,000 from a Dolan Springs-based fire district. BULLHEAD CITY – A Bullhead City woman who has admitted involvement in defrauding a local tire shop of thousands of dollars could end up in the Arizona Department of Corrections. Rhiannon Sullivan, 25, entered a plea agreement in Mohave County Superior Court on July 28.
