Knife and scissor stabbing in Kingman

KINGMAN – Police report a Las Vegas man is expected to recover after undergoing surgery following a weekend stabbing in Kingman. Police Chief Rusty Cooper said officers responded to Kingman Regional Medical Center at 8:40 p.m. Saturday after it was reported a stabbing victim was being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Another report of the same stabbing report drew officers to a home in the 2200 block of Davis Ave.

“Investigators learned that four adults in the home became involved in a verbal argument amongst themselves,” Cooper said. He said 39-year-old Nathan Bird of Kingman and the 31-year-old victim got into a physical fight.

“During this altercation Bird is alleged to have attacked the victim, using a knife in one hand and scissors in the other, stabbing the victim multiple times in the chest,” Cooper said. He said the Las Vegas man was rushed to the local hospital while Bird was arrested.

Cooper said Bird admitted involvement in the violence. He said it is believed alcohol and drug use were factors.

Cooper said Bird was initially jailed for aggravated assault, but that the charge could be upgraded as a result of continuing investigation.
