Kingman city parks facilities to reopen today -Aquatics facilities will open by May 25

KINGMAN – After Governor Ducey begins to phase in re-opening Arizona, Kingman city parks will reopen Saturday, May 16, with aquatics facilities (pools and splash pad) opening May 25, (weather permitting). Tennis courts will be available, basketball hoops will be re-installed, skate park will be opened, and playground equipment will be available for use. Ramadas and ball fields can also be rented, when CDC guidelines are followed. Recreation programs will resume in June, with class sizes being at 10 or less for indoor activities and following CDC guidelines of social distancing. At that time, parents will be allowed to drop…

The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) reminds the public to leave baby wildlife alone. As temperatures rise and days grow longer, newborns of many species of wildlife are beginning to explore the world around them. AZGFD encourages people to resist the urge to help seemingly abandoned animals, including baby birds and young rabbits, as a parent is likely nearby and will return once humans have left the area. “Picking up or ‘rescuing’ baby wildlife is often unnecessary and can have negative consequences. COVID-19 update: 2 deaths, 8 new cases today; all in Kingman area

MOHAVE COUNTY – Late this afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 8 confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in Mohave County and two COVID-19 related deaths. All of them are in the Kingman service area. The two deaths are both previously identified Kingman area cases and are linkedto another confirmed case. One person is in the 55-64 year age range and the other is 65 to 74 in age. Of the 8 new Kingman area positive cases, three have an investigation still pending and are in isolation, recovering at home. One person is in the 20-44 year…

Kingman Police Department’s Junior Police Academy canceled

KINGMAN – The Kingman Police Department (KPD) has announced the cancellation of the Junior Police Academy (JPA) for 2020 due to restrictions set forth by the COVID-19 pandemic. Traditionally, KPD has hosted two classes each summer that immerses 50 Kingman-area youths in a law enforcement curriculum. The class sizes necessary to have an effective and participative experience for the students of the program do not conform to the safety protocols set forth to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is the goal of the Kingman Police Department to host the Junior Police Academy in the summer of 2021.
