PHOENIX, Ariz. – Bradley Alan Schupbach, 54, of Chino Valley, Arizona, pleaded guilty in Yavapai County Superior Court to five counts of Class 3 Felony Theft and two counts of Contracting Without a License, Class 1 Misdemeanors.
On June 29, 2026, Schupbach was sentenced to five years of supervised probation and ordered to pay $469,892.40 in restitution to his victims.
Between 2020 and 2022, Schupbach engaged with five victims to construct several homes and additions–initially operating as a licensed contractor, and subsequently continuing as an unlicensed entity after his contractor license was revoked. Following complaints from the victims, the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AZ ROC) and the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office conducted joint investigations. These investigations revealed a pattern of Schupbach starting projects, performing substandard work, and ultimately abandoning the jobs. This conduct continued even after the license was revoked, leading to the Contracting Without a License charges.
Consumer Advisory: The AZ ROC commonly receives complaints regarding unlicensed entities exploiting homeowners through poor workmanship or complete abandonment. In Arizona, if the total cost of a project–including labor and materials–exceeds $1,000 or requires a local building permit, the entity performing the work must hold an active ROC license.
