Pickleball Jingle fundraiser gives back to New Horizons

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Pickleball Jingle tournament had everyone smiling Tuesday, Dec. 12 as the Lake Havasu Pickleball Association (LHCPBA) served their way into giving back to those in need. LHCPBA was created to support the growing interest in the pickleball sport in Lake Havasu.  As a group, they organize clinics, drills, and charity tournaments. LHCPBA works regularly with the city to coordinate developments for pickleball facilities.   In February 2023, the association was successful in completing four additional courts in Dick Samp Memorial Park, making it the 16-court complex that it is today.  This was LHCPBA’s third jingle committee fundraiser. The Pickleball Charity…

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Master Gardener Training Course provides research-based horticulture information you will use as a Master Gardener volunteer educator for the Mohave County Cooperative Extension. Topics include soils, basic botany, irrigation and landscape design, composting, plant propagation, basic ecology, vegetables, stake and prune trees/shrubs, fruit trees, native plants, entomology, pest management, and plant diseases. Catholic Charities Community Services recently expanded its re-entry housing program in the Northern Arizona communities of Cottonwood, Page, and Kingman. The housing-first model community re-entry program provides safe, affordable, housing to individuals who have had recent justice involvement. Providing a stable and supportive home to those previously incarcerated allows them to successfully integrate into the community, which reduces the rate of recidivism. Bringing the total to eight, the new Cottonwood, Page and Kingman homes join existing residences – one in Williams, one in Prescott, and three in Flagstaff. Lynsey Day of Kingman Recognized as Scholar-Athlete

Missouri Valley College fall athletic teams have produced 50 Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athletes for the fall 2023 sports season. The students were spread across six separate sports programs. Lynsey Day, a Volleyball athlete studying Psychology, was among those selected. Leading the way among Vikings was men’s soccer, with 19 on the list. There were nine from women’s soccer, four from cross country, five from football, and 13 from women’s volleyball.
