Final Environmental Assessment for future US 93 / Interstate 40 interchange project is available online

The Arizona Department of Transportation has been granted environmental approval to continue moving forward with plans to improve the US 93 / Interstate 40 (I-40) west Kingman traffic interchange.  A “Finding of No Significant Impact” was issued after the project team completed a Final Environmental Assessment for the project, which was prepared in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The Final Environmental Assessment also includes comments from the community received through the public hearing on May 28, 2020.  The document is posted on the project website at azdot.gov/WestKingmanTIP, under the Final Environmental Assessment tab.

COVID-19 update: 34 new cases, one death

MOHAVE COUNTY – Late Tuesday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 34 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. One of those 34 cases is a death not previously reported  It was an 80-89 year age range person in the Kingman area. There was one other death, a 70-79 individual from a previously reported case in the Bullhead City area. Of the 33 remaining new confirmed cases, 13 are in the Lake Havasu City service area. EPCOR seeks rate increase

BULLHEAD CITY – The water company that Bullhead City is trying to take over by eminent domain has filed another rate increase. It was a history of frequent rate hikes that motivated Bullhead City to file condemnation litigation targeting local EPCOR water company assets. City Manager Toby Cotter told council members last week that EPCOR’s request before the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) would raise some local rates by 16% and others by as much as 27%. Burgess bounced from ballot after ruling that majority of petition signatures are invalid

BULLHEAD CITY – Colorado River Union School District (CRUHSD) Governing Board President Kerry Burgess has been disqualified as a candidate for re-election in the November 3 general election. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen ruled Thursday that plaintiff Royanne Ortiz prevailed in the lawsuit she filed challenging nominating petitions that Burgess submitted early this month to qualify his campaign. Central to her case was Ortiz’ contention that 25 of the 27 petitions turned in by Burgess failed to have been signed by circulators as is required under Arizona law. MOHAVE COUNTY – Late Monday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 70 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. There are also five deaths from previously reported cases. Three are from the Lake Havasu City service area. One was in the 50-59 year age range; one was 60-69; one was 80-89.
