Beware of Package Thefts This Holiday Season

With home package deliveries occurring frequently this holiday season, the risk of package thefts increase significantly when packages are left unattended outside of your residence for an extended amount of time.  The Lake Havasu City Police Department encourages residents to take steps to avoid packages being stolen, such as signing up for tracking notifications, retrieving parcels as soon as they are delivered, or requiring signatures for delivery. Local charged in five-person fatal

A Kingman man faces prosecution for the traffic accident that killed 5 bicyclists in southern Nevada last Thursday. The Mohave County Sheriff’s office says 45-year-old Jordan Barson was arrested in the Kingman area about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Associated Press reports the Clark County District Attorney’s office has charged Barson with a dozen felony offenses, alleging he was high on methamphetamine when the box truck he was driving struck a group of bicyclists on Highway 95, between Searchlight and Boulder City. BULLHEAD CITY –  Bullhead City Fire Department recently conducted recruitment for a new fire marshal. Candidates applying for the position endured a four-part testing process. Barbie Skeen-Barrett was the top candidate and accepted the offer to fill the position of fire marshal. The position oversees the Community Risk Reduction Division which responsibilities include code enforcement, public education, fire investigations, and other aspects of community risk reduction. Public Assistance Needed in Thefts from Vending Machines

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Between December 13, 2020 and December 14, 2020, an unidentified male suspect broke into several vending machines in the 3200 block of Maricopa Ave. and in the 1800 block of Kiowa Ave.  The male suspect used numerous hand-held tools to break the exterior locks, make entry into the machines and steal the money from within. BHC robber sentenced to four years

BULLHEAD CITY – A 4-year prison term was imposed Monday for a cellphone store holdup in Bullhead City. The punishment for 29-year-old Alonso Avalos was prescribed in a plea agreement convicting him of armed robbery. No one was injured when Avalos used a handgun while robbing the Cricket Wireless store on highway 95 in Nov. 2019. Avalos was identified as a suspect after a citizen recognized a surveillance system image in a local newspaper.
