County sanctuary effort advances

MOHAVE COUNTY – Dist. 1 Sup. Travis Lingenfelter made an impact during his first meeting as a member of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors. Lingenfelter successfully steered the Board in the direction of possible adoption of a resolution declaring Mohave to be a Constitutional Sanctuary among Arizona counties. Contemplation of a resolution arises from the belief of some that multiple levels of government have overreached and violated the rights of citizens and free enterprise during the nine-month long coronavirus pandemic. Two-day store closure for cleansing campaign KINGMAN – An undisclosed issue has resulted in the temporary closure of what is perhaps the most heavily trafficked retail store in Kingman. The Walmart supercenter at 3396 Stockton Hill Road closed its doors at 2:00 p.m. Monday. “Walmart has chosen to do this to allow extra time for a third-party specialist to further sanitize the store and will also give associates additional time to restock shelves and prepare the store to once again serve the community during this time,” a news release said. MOHAVE COUNTY – Workforce transition to the four-story Mohave County courthouse addition in downtown Kingman was originally targeted before Christmas 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic. The timetable that shifted to January has been pushed further into the New Year. “Our move-in date is now scheduled to be the 13th, 14th and 15th of February,” said county facilities manager John Mieding. “We’ve had some unforeseen construction issues occur. Ladewig faces multiple charges involving minors

KINGMAN – One Kingman teenager is facing prosecution for allegedly plying two younger teens with alcohol and engaging in sexual activity with one of them. Police Chief Rusty Cooper said an investigation began in November when two 13-year-old girls were treated at Kingman Regional Medical Center for extreme intoxication. Cooper said Cody Ladewig, 18, was arrested in early December for sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of furnishing alcohol to minors.
