Teen shooter jailed

KINGMAN – A Kingman teenager has been incarcerated for a Jan. 30 shooting. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) personnel responded at about 8 p.m. to a report that a suspect had fled the 3600 block of Northfield Ave. where a male had been shot in the head. The victim was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and was in critical condition when flown to a Las Vegas trauma facility for further treatment. LAKE HAVASU CITY – In case you missed out on last week’s quilt event, there will be another one in store for the Lake Havasu community at the Art Quilt Exhibit. The Out of Box Fiber Artists will display an array of unique quilts made by the members of the club.  The group began meeting about two years ago and currently have about thirty members. Parallels between two fatal crashes resulting from fleeing criminals

KINGMAN – The recent death of a Kingman woman in a two-vehicle collision during a law enforcement pursuit in some ways parallels another tragedy that occurred here almost a decade ago. Both incidents produced the deaths of innocent civilians during police pursuits of parole absconders from the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC). Linda Chevalier, 66, Kingman, was fatally injured in April, 2014 when her vehicle was struck on Bank St. by another driven by Robert James Dodd, who was fleeing pursing officers at the time. Loretta Eloise Callahan (Bland), of Kingman, died January 29, 2024. Loretta was born on April 11, 1942, in Kingman, AZ. Her parents were A.T. and Fern Bland. She was one of 11 children who grew up on the Big Sandy. Loretta attended area schools in both Wikieup and Kingman, then graduated from Mohave Union High School. She met Dennis H. Callahan, Sr., when she worked for her dad at the Wikieup Store and Bar, and he came into town looking for a job. They married in 1961 at the Wikieup Schoolhouse.
