Teen shooter jailed

KINGMAN – A Kingman teenager has been incarcerated for a Jan. 30 shooting. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) personnel responded at about 8 p.m. to a report that a suspect had fled the 3600 block of Northfield Ave. where a male had been shot in the head.

The victim was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and was in critical condition when flown to a Las Vegas trauma facility for further treatment. MCSO spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said detective interviews determined that a 17-year-old suspect had been at the residence when a verbal argument escalated.

“The juvenile produced a gun and shot the victim before fleeing the scene,” Mortensen said. “The juvenile was located and arrested a short time later without incident.”

The teen was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and transferred to the Adult Detention Center where he is held on attempted murder and aggravated assault charges. The names of the suspect and victim are withheld as the investigation continues.
