Corrected tax statements issued

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Mohave County applied the wrong levy rate and over-billed owners of some 46,000 property parcels in the Lake Havasu Unified School District (LHUSD). The mistake was discovered after the County mailed out thousands of notices for annual property tax payments. “The Mohave County Financial Services Department made a scriveners error in entering the Class B Bond Debt service levy and rate,” said Financial Services Director Coral Loyd. “This was a clerical error in keying the data into the schedule.” Communications Director Roger Galloway noted the applied rate was more than 3 times what should have been assessed….

Murder trial underway

KINGMAN – A homicide trial began Wednesday in Mohave County Superior Court in Kingman. Roy Medlin, 65, Golden Valley, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of David Hendrix, 49. Deputy Mohave County Attorney Jake Chavez said the pair argued over rental debt for days before Medlin shot and killed Hendrix on Oct. 3, 2020 at the defendant’s home in the 4600 block of N. So Hi Blvd. He said Medlin’s justified shooting claims are not supported by the evidence. “The facts will show that Roy did not act in self-defense. This was an act of murder,” Chavez told the jury….
