Dear Editor, Following what has become a Christmas tree lighting tradition at Locomotive Park, kicked off by Mayor Miles this past Saturday, Dec. 4, Christmas celebrations in downtown Kingman were lit up. The celebrations were followed by a Street of Lights, which replaced the longstanding Parade of Lights that Kingmanites have enjoyed for many years and the 2nd year running of the Mingle Jingle. Our congratulations to Joni Millin and the Kingman Downtown Merchants Association and Matt and Pam Wanner (The Standard Newspaper) for putting on such a wonderful event, which lasted until 9 p.m. and provided several hours for…

Dear Editor, You would think newspaper publishers might fear earthquake, fire, famine, war, pestilence, maybe even divorce. But, to their credit, they flinch at none of that. What they tremble at most, more than death itself, is free speech, at least one huge sector of that public landscape. I write to publishers and their hand-picked editors regularly about every topic under the sun and they willingly entertain it, except religion. Dear Editor, In response to Mr. Simpson’s letter in the 1st of Dec. edition of The Standard: you proved my point. Ask a conservative to explain their (what seem to me) illogical policies and you will not get an answer. My original questions asked why you thought “people like Bezos, Buffett, Musk, Trump, and Soros, etc. get by with paying little to no tax” (including giant corporations as well)? Larry Richard Williams of Kingman, Arizona passed away on Nov. 27, 2021. He was 75 years old. He was born on Nov. 27, 1945 in Rushville, Indiana. He will be deeply missed. The family contact is his daughter, Karen Strom. Arrangements were made by Sutton Memorial Funeral Home in Kingman.

Dear Editor, An America, which once proposed to glorify God, and promote His Word around the world, is now descending to the depths of Hell. One can see that every single day, including yesterday’s Supreme Court arguments, questions, and answers concerning abortion. Unfortunately, I missed too much of what was said. But God and His Laws probably never came up. Even the case they were arguing about was ungodly as it allowed abortions up to the 14th week.
