Response to Rick Simpson Dec. 1 Letter

Dear Editor,

In response to Mr. Simpson’s letter in the 1st of Dec. edition of The Standard: you proved my point. Ask a conservative to explain their (what seem to me) illogical policies and you will not get an answer. My original questions asked why you thought “people like Bezos, Buffett, Musk, Trump, and Soros, etc. get by with paying little to no tax” (including giant corporations as well)? Your response: “Anyone who believes your Socialistic government is going to relegate additional taxes to folks making $400k or more IS drinking the Blue Koolaid.”

The way I interpret your response, the “well off” in society keep getting the tax breaks from Trump’s tax cuts while the rest of us pay for government programs.

But the first point I want to make is that the questions are never answered. Is this policy fair? How do these policies help the middle class? And why do conservatives find this acceptable?

Will you please explain it to us?

The second point was about the Patriot Act with its intrusion into all of our personal finances, and who knows what other information could also be investigated. There was no answer in your response other than “Ditto for anyone who can justify the level of surveillance said government wants us to believe benefits us all.” No acknowledgement of the fact a conservative administration under George W. Bush passed this piece of legislation. Did you even bother to investigate the scope of that Act?

Mr. Simpson, I do want to thank you for once again proving me correct, in that if you ask a conservative a difficult question, don’t expect an answer.
