Fire district facing cutbacks after $40,000 theft

YUCCA – It’s former Chief apologized Friday for embezzling at least $40,000 from the Yucca Fire District. Matthew Young, 40, appeared for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to theft. “I stand before you today your Honor a humble man with a lot of remorse and guilt in his heart,” Young told Judge Doug Camacho. KINGMAN – During WWII, more than 1,000 women served as Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), freeing male pilots for combat roles at a critical time of the war. The WASP ferried planes from factories to embarkation points, performed engineer test flying of repaired aircraft, and did target towing for gunnery training. By the spring of 1944, every P-51 Mustang flown in combat had already been flown by a WASP.
