Dear Editor, Throughout the country school systems appear to be somewhat stunned on how to make our schools safe from COVID-19. COVID-19 is odorless, tasteless, invisible and everywhere. Our young people are counting on us to get this right so they can get back to some sense of normal learning activity. We know things will not be back to normal for a while, and that everything is getting wiped down, but more needs to be done. COVID-19 update: 35 new cases, one death

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified yesterday of 34 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. The one death is a 70-79 year age range person in the Bullhead City service area and is a case not previously reported. Of the 35 new confirmed cases, 10 are in the Bullhead City area. One is the death mentioned above. Eight on the remaining Bullhead City area cases are recovering at home and are linked to another case. Every state should open their polls from 6 AM until 8 PM. Some states already have later evening hours like Californians who may vote until 8 PM and New Yorkers who may vote as late as 9 PM. Alleged drug dealers enter plea deals

MOHAVE COUNTY – Defendants from Bullhead City and Golden Valley will be going to prison under terms of recently entered plea agreements that resolve their separate drug cases. A 5.5-year prison term is mandated in the plea deal for Brock Barnett, 30. The Bullhead City man pleaded guilty on August 11 to possession of narcotic drugs for sale. Deputy Mohave County attorney Morgan Carstensen said Barnett was on probation for two 2019 theft cases when a June search of his home at 1730 Coronado Drive turned up four grams of heroin, $920 cash and drug paraphernalia.
