Why Prop 207 is Losing Support

Dear Editor, The marijuana sellers who wrote Prop 207 had the marketing all figured out. This time, they would give the ballot proposition a respectable sounding name, tweak a couple of details without really limiting their potential market, and spread the word that this recreational marijuana proposition was “Smart and Safe.” Polling indicated their ploy was working. Polls consistently showed Arizona voters would likely support such a measure. Then, the details began to emerge. Voters learned Prop 207 does far more than decriminalize recreational marijuana. The 17-pages of changes to Arizona laws would affect drivers, teens, kids, employees and employers,…

Two charged with drugs for sale

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Two Lake Havasu City men face prosecution following seizure of drugs, cash and weapons. Police were involved in an investigation of a rash of drug overdoses when they visited a two-bedroom apartment in the 2200 block of McCulloch Blvd on Sept. 29. They were able to conduct a search of the unit when they smelled marijuana and spotted drug paraphernalia when the door was opened. Officers reportedly confiscated about an ounce of cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms packaged for sale in baggies, dozens of marijuana oil cartridges, two firearms and more than $3,000 in cash. Reader does not believe creditable news sources

Dear Editor, I used to enjoy the news. Taking into account the week’s happenings, I’m really ashamed of all the negative press and commercials for both candidates. Where have all the good reporters gone? When did they decide to become liars and story tellers instead of telling the truth and inform the people of facts so we could make up our own minds about these candidates? I can remember when being a reporter was an admirable thing. We looked to them to give us what we needed to make informed decisions. Now, I don’t believe anything they write or say…

Mask town hall draws sparse attendance

KINGMAN – A handful of citizens turned out for what was billed as a hybrid town-hall/workshop Thursday for Mohave County supervisors to gather public input on use of masks and the requirement to wear face cover in Mohave County buildings during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. About a half-dozen people addressed the board of supervisors in person and more than three dozen others submitted written statements. Board clerk Ginny Anderson and deputy county attorney Ryan Espling took turns reading those letters into the record during a 40-minute period. Anderson said 22 people were opposed while 30 people expressed support for use…

Halloween is coming and Americans are scared

Dear Editor, Halloween is typically a relaxed day for America’s kids to fill their coffers with candy. Children and adults often don their favorite wacky attire for a day of comic relief. America needs a day of some kind of relief and maybe Halloween will provide some insanity or terror relief. Because nothing about Halloween is as scary as what America and the world has been experiencing. We have buried over 220,000 Americans from Covid-19. Over eight million have been sick. Nursing homes and Intensive Care Units have become horror wards. The projections for more sickness and death scare most…
