World renowned artisan makes Chloride home

Chris Spencer, an antique restorer for more than 45 years, together with wife Cheryl a jewelry creator, recently made Chloride their home and opened a gift shop, “Back Roads Gold.”

Spencer is known internationally as a leading and primary vintage Gillette Razor restorer. People worldwide send their personal razors to Spenser for restoration or purchase one or more of his beautifully restored collectibles he has on display. One of several art creations by his wife Cheryl are necklaces made from antique glass found in and around abandoned 1800’s mining camps throughout western states.

Their store, located in a historic part of Chloride, is filled with western artifacts, old bottles, books, paintings, rocks and many other collectables. Spenser, an experienced off-road guide, gold prospector and metal detector professional is delighted to offer free mining and exploration information to anyone wanting to learn about trails and mines surrounding Chloride.

“I offer free rides to the famous Purcell Murals,” says Spencer, “But only to our friends. It just so happens that anyone stopping by is our friend.”
