KINGMAN, Ariz. – A Mohave County Superior Court judge lectured the defendant but ordered no further incarceration for a Bullhead City man who faced a possible prison term for a violent domestic dispute. Judge Megan McCoy placed Nathan Garcia, 23, on probation for five years during a Sept. 9 sentencing hearing in Kingman.
Garcia is convicted of aggravated assault in a plea agreement for breaking into an ex-girlfriend’s apartment in the 500 block of Riviera Boulevard on Jan. 17. Police said Garcia was armed when he assaulted the victim and took her cell phone so she could not contact authorities.
Deputy Mohave County Attorney Eric Nolan last month said that Garcia pointed the handgun at the victim, and used it to strike her in the face.
“This was very serious and you are very lucky that probation is available to you,” McCoy told Garcia. “You have an entire life ahead of you. This is a mistake that you just get one chance. This can’t happen again.”
Judge McCoy placed Garcia on probation for five years, and challenged him to dedicate himself toward family commitment and personal betterment.
