KINGMAN – One of the 15 defendants rounded up in the multi-agency “Operation Mohave Typewriter” investigation appeared for sentencing Monday. Shayleigh Wolsey, 35, Kingman, was snared along with the other suspects when a nine-month undercover probe culminated in August.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said more than 32 pounds of methamphetamine, 26 hand grenades and 28 firearms were seized in the investigation of illegal drug and firearms trade.

Legal Defender Ron Gilleo said Wolsey was a lesser player in the group in an investigation focused on Richard Eldridge, 44, Chloride.

“He’s a really, really bad guy,” Gilleo said. “Why was she with a really bad guy? Because he provided her drugs.”

Wolsey apologized for making poor choices impacting her friends and family, choices that will cause separation from her two young children. She expressed commitment to betterment, sobriety and motherhood.

Judge Sipe imposed a one-year prison term, followed by probation for possession of dangerous drug convictions. He wished her well and encouraged her to comply with terms of probation to turn her life around.
