Verna Kyle Clark Wright

Verna Kyle Clark Wright was born on March 13, 1930, to Kyle and Etta Clark in Globe, Arizona. She was the last baby delivered by her grandmother, who was a midwife.  She passed on March 6, 2025, seven days before her 95th birthday.

As a child, she spent her summers in Young, Arizona and surrounding areas while her Father built roads as a heavy equipment operator.  She would often stand next to him on the caterpillar and he nicknamed her “dig” because she enjoyed playing in the dirt more than playing with dolls.  They moved to Bullhead in 1945, after the war, so he could work on Davis Dam.  They then moved to Kingman so she could finish high school.  She made many lifelong friends at Mohave County Union High School, and met and married Carl Wright.  They attended U of A where she earned a degree in business and he earned a degree in electrical engineering.  They returned to Kingman and bought out his fathers electrical business, Wright Electric.  They also opened a retail store and Verna sold appliances and kept the books for both businesses while raising three children.  They divorced in 1979 and Verna retired.

Verna got to travel extensively with her good friend Celia Morton and others including a trip down the Mississippi on a paddle boat and to countries Japan, New Zealand, and Australia. She also loved taking care of her grandchildren and was a long time member of Hostess Club and the Mohave County Pioneer Ladies.

She is survived by her three children, Carla, Craig, Charles.  Her honorary “children”, Paula King and Phyllis Eaton.  As well as seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and many friends. She is loved and will always be missed.  Her ashes will be spread in the Hualapai’s where she had a cabin that she loved and in Young, Arizona.
