Route 66 Invitational marks the race to state

Saturday, April 13, Kingman and Lee Williams High Schools hosted their Annual Route 66 Invitational Track meet held at Kingman High School on Bank Street in Kingman. The day was filled with plenty of sunshine, wind and track and field events. The meet started with the 4×800-meter relay followed by 300-meter hurdles for both boys and girls while field events, long jump, triple jump, and shot and disc ran simultaneously with the running events. “We have 10 teams today. We would love to see 14 to 16 teams. To put on a meet like we’re putting on today, state qualifier and all these teams, it takes a lot of cooperation between the track people at Lee Williams and the track people at Kingman High School. So the fact that we’re able to work together to put on something like this, I think it’s great,” says John Venenga, assistant principal at Kingman High School/Athletics Director.
