Pyrotechnics show this weekend in LHC

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Come out and witness the sparkle and glimmers of one of the most spectacular fireworks shows by the Western Pyrotechnics Association (WPA).

Next week Lake Havasu will once again get a chance at viewing the annual four-day dazzling extravaganza. For some, it may be hard to believe that a group of pyrotechnic enthusiasts came together over 30 years ago. In 1989, WPA felt a team for the west coast was much needed.

Much like the famous Pyrotechnic Guild International (PGI), the budding WPA club yearned to form a group of their own. An organization that would be filled with like-minded friends to organize pyrotechnic events intending to educate and entertain.

Today, the club has expanded beyond the west coast, with members from all over the world eager to meet others passionate about pyrotechnic mania. In case you’re wondering what pyrotechnics are, and what makes it so wondrous, pyrotechnics are a flammable substance typically used in fireworks.

Most Havasu locals will probably agree that their President’s Day Weekend would not feel the same without gathering around friends and family creating lifelong memories of the yearly festive sights. Opening day is rumored to be subdued, however it’s just a subtle glimpse of the explosive animated visuals to come on the following days.

The entry fee for vehicles is just $10, and only cash is accepted. Spectators can then enjoy the magical allure of the displays from their cars or for a more thrilling experience, see it on the elevated viewing area of the baseball diamonds.

Attendees are also allowed to bring their own blankets and seats and make it a full night of fun and entertainment.  This year’s 36th Annual Western Winter Blast Pyrotechnics Show will begin on Thursday, February 13 through Sunday, February 16 at SARA Park from 7:30 to 10 p.m. While the annual event continues to excite and draw crowds, members of the club are also dedicated to promote legal productions and sales of high quality fireworks, and support the artful safe use of pyrotechnics.
