LAKE HAVASU CITY – The nation’s fastest growing sport will be available to witness this weekend at the 10th Annual Pickle Fest Tournament. The Lake Havasu City Pickle Ball Association (LHCPBA) is continuing to carry out their mission to advocate the expansion of the pickleball sport.
The organization is always sharing information to the community on where to practice and participate in their ongoing events. With all divisions being in round robin format with playoffs, this year’s the tournament will welcome all skill levels.
The skill levels will be broken down into three eligible age groups. Ages 12 to 49, 50 to 60, and lastly, ages 65 and above. Players can self-rate, and will not be allowed to play lower than their rating provided by the USA Pickleball Tournament Player.
More than 200 players are anticipated to be participating in this year’s tournament. It is true what everyone is saying about this game being the fastest growing sport, and LHCPBA is not falling behind.
Currently, the club is giving back by providing more ways to play at The Ark Center located behind the Stonebridge Christian Fellowship Church. Playing costs are only $3 per person there and those funds are going towards the building of three indoor pickleball courts.
Which should come in handy for those escalating heat temperatures in the summer months. In case you missed your chance to enter this tournament, it’s not too late to get a glimpse of all that LHCPBA has to offer.
The club will have a display of mini pickleball courts at next month’s chowder fest for anyone interested in learning more about the group and practicing their skills. The pickle fest tournament is a three-day event scheduled to kick off on Friday, February 23 ending on Sunday, February 25 at Dick Samp Memorial Park.
Start times are subject to change and events may get combined based on event registration. The event is free to spectators.
Last year, the club was successful in adding four more courts to the park and this year’s tournament promises to bring in more funds for the growth and enjoyment of pickleball in Havasu. Signup fees will go directly to creating more facilities for people to play along with better amenities, and maybe even a few more courts!
