KINGMAN – Special Olympics Arizona (SOA) will be hosting Olympic Village and Torch Run next month in downtown Kingman.

The Olympic Village will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 4. The event will include live entertainment and activities, such as demos from powerlifters and cheerleaders. The event will also feature the Acceleration Nation Dance Academy.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) will begin at the Downtown Kingman Arch. The Torch Run is free and open to the public.

The LETR originally began in Wichita, Kansas, in 1981 and is now a nationally-celebrated fundraising event for the Special Olympics. The LETR, along with other notable events like the Plane Pull, Polar Plunge, and Tip-A-Cop, have collectively raised over $1 billion since LETR began.

This year also marks the 50th year for Special Olympics Arizona, which started with around a hundred athletes. The organization now has 21,000 athletes competing across four statewide competitions.
