Mohave County Judge Williams honored

Judge Williams (L) with former Arizona Chief Supreme Court Justice Bob Brutinel

MOHAVE COUNTY –Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick A. Williams has received the Arizona Supreme Court Strategic Agenda Award for Enhancing Professionalism within Arizona’s Courts for his work in the Adult Recovery Court program.

Every year, court programs and deserving individuals throughout Arizona are nominated for their work toward accomplishing goals outlined in the Chief Justice’s five-year strategic plan.  Recipients in six categories were chosen this year for their pioneering approach to Arizona’s courts and their commitment to ongoing excellence.

The Mohave County Adult Recovery Court is a post-conviction treatment court whose participants are evaluated as a moderate-to-high risk of recidivism and in moderate-to-high need of therapeutic services.  Williams collaborates with the Mohave County Adult Probation Department and many service providers and community stakeholders to hold participants accountable and help them restore their lives.

In his nomination, the judge was described as “a beacon of integrity and empathy” whose “tireless efforts have not only upheld the rule of law but have also uplifted our community.”

Williams reacted to the high honor by saying, “Presiding over treatment courts is the most fulfilling assignment of my judicial career because I get to collaborate with a team of dedicated, passionate professionals as well as clients that work hard to overcome challenges and improve their lives.” He added, “It is an honor to be recognized for my efforts.  Any success I have achieved is due to the continuous and unwavering support of my colleagues with the court and probation, my treatment court team members, and my family.”
