Law enforcement warns of unemployment scam

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office would like to inform the community of a scam that has increased in
popularity recently. Over the last few weeks, multiple reports have been taken in regards to individuals
receiving letters and/or debit cards for unemployment benefits that they did not apply for. The letters are
usually addressed to someone else using the recipients’ address. The Department of Economic Security
requests if any of these letters or debit cards are received, do not activate these cards and contact their
fraud line (1-800-251-2436 or contact them online at fraudreferralexternal.azdes.gov) and also contact the
Attorney General’s Office via email or 1-602-542-8888 / 1-520-628-6504.
