Lake Havasu City announces launch of inaugural Havasu Residents Academy

LAKE HAVASU — Lake Havasu City is now accepting applications for its inaugural Havasu Residents Academy (H.R.A.), an eight-week program giving Lake Havasu City residents and business owners a behind-the-scenes look at how their city works. This free, interactive, and engaging experience runs September 25 through November 13, 2025, with Thursday evening sessions from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Participants connect with city leaders, explore facilities, and gain a deeper understanding of how local government serves the community.

Developed as part of the City’s commitment to transparency and community engagement, and in response to the most recent Citizen Survey, the program gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at city services and decision-making, while building meaningful connections with the people who keep Lake Havasu City running.

“The Havasu Residents Academy offers residents the opportunity to step inside their local government and truly understand how the City operates,” said Community Engagement Officer Jerri Bracamonte. “Participants see firsthand how decisions are made, how services are delivered, and how their voices matter in shaping the future of Lake Havasu City. Our hope is that graduates leave inspired to stay engaged as advocates, volunteers, and even future city leaders.”

Over the course of eight weeks, participants engage in interactive presentations, behind-the-scenes tours, and discussions with city leaders. Participants explore how essential services are delivered, how tax dollars are managed, and how departments like City Attorney, City Clerk, Human Resources, Court, Police, Fire, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation work together to maintain and grow the community. Graduates of the program leave informed, connected, and empowered to participate more fully in local government, whether through boards and commissions, volunteer efforts, or simply by sharing their knowledge with others.

The Havasu Residents Academy is free and open to Lake Havasu City residents and business owners aged 18 and older. Space is limited to 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis, and dinner is provided each week to accommodate busy daytime schedules. Applications are accepted online beginning Monday, August 11, through Friday, August 29, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., with accepted participants notified in early September.
