Homeless man takes plea after trashing home of Good Samaritan

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A homeless man who trashed the home of the Good Samaritan who took him in pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage on Oct. 18. A police report indicated that a falling out resulted in Adam Canchola being asked to leave the multi-million-dollar home in the 4100 block of Black Hill Place.

Canchola, 26, reportedly vandalized the man’s garage when he was out to dinner with friends in August. Police indicated that Canchola used a rock to break the windshield and windows of the victim’s 2023 Lamborghini and a large marble stone to inflict more damage to a 2020 McLaren.

“I’m sorry for what I did,” Canchola told Judge Billy Sipe.

Defense attorney Ross Carponelli said Canchola had an unblemished legal record, with the exception of a traffic ticket.

“Clearly this was an isolated incident,” said defense attorney Ross Carponelli, who noted the victim is supportive of Canchola. “The victim views the incident with compassion, which is appreciated.”

Judge Sipe imposed a 17-day jail sentence, crediting him for the 17 days already served. Canchola was placed on supervised probation and directed to perform 100 hours of community work service.

Canchola may also be ordered to pay restitution, though that matter is not yet resolved.
