New Kingman hotel begins construction

KINGMAN – Another new hotel project is under construction in Kingman. A February 24 groundbreaking was conducted before earth moving and site preparation activity began at the intersection of Hotel Way and Airway Avenue, west of the Walgreen’s store.

Property manager Veronica Amador said the four-story, 95 unit development will carry the Avid brand within the InterContinental Hotels Group family.

“It’s generally made for overnight stays,” Amador said. “It takes guest turnover into great consideration because the amenities, everything that’s in there, the way the room is set up, is all designed for a quick in and out.”

LiveBoxGC expects the hotel to be ready for occupancy by the summer of 2026.

“He quoted us 15 months for it to be fully finalized, but he thinks he’ll be able to get it built in 13,” Amador said. And she said additional acreage is already earmarked for similar development.

“The people that own the La Quinta, they own all of that dirt right next door and they definitely have some big plans,” she said. “They’re already talking about the next hotel that’s going to open after they’re done with the Avid…We’re definitely a `heads in beds’ town. That’s our revenue here. Hotels are what keeps this town moving.”
