Fire Chief Patrick Moore retires after 32 years of  service

BULLHEAD CITY — After 32 years of service in the fire service, Bullhead City Fire Department’s Fire Chief, Patrick Moore, has officially announced his retirement, effective March 23, 2025.

Chief Moore’s career began in 1989 when he joined the Explorer Program with the Hualapai Fire Department. In 1992, he was hired full-time with the Hualapai Fire Department/Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District (NACFD). While serving as a firefighter, he earned his paramedic certification. Over the years, he advanced to serve as Battalion Chief of Training and Assistant Fire Marshal, roles he held until 2006.

In 2006, Chief Moore joined the Kingman Fire Department, serving there until 2009. That same year, he returned to NACFD, taking on the position of Fire Chief, a role he held until 2017. In 2018, Chief Moore was appointed Fire Chief for the Bullhead City Fire Department, where he served with distinction until his recent retirement.

Throughout his career, Chief Moore has been integral to numerous critical initiatives and historical events. He played a key role in developing the county-wide numbering system for engines and stations, improving organization and efficiency across regional departments. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Chief Moore managed challenging operations and budgeting during unprecedented times.

Chief Moore also participated in significant events, including the Yarnell 19 Memorial.  He was instrumental in responding to the Amtrak train derailment in Kingman and actively involved in security and logistics during President Donald Trump’s visit to Bullhead City.

In addition to his operational leadership, Chief Moore has served as an instructor for the Arizona Fire District Association (AFDA) and Mohave Community College. He has taught recruiting classes since 1996 and statutory classes since 2010, sharing his extensive knowledge with future generations of firefighters and administrators.

Chief Moore holds numerous professional certifications, including Hazardous Materials (Hazmat), Code Enforcement/Investigations, and Certified Emergency Paramedic (CEP). In 2024, he was honored as the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association (AFCA) Fire Chief of the Year.

During his tenure with the Bullhead City Fire Department, Chief Moore prioritized the health and safety of his personnel, developing mental and physical health programs and cancer screening initiatives. He championed the adoption of advanced personal protective equipment (PPE) technologies and enhanced communication systems between fire stations and the dispatch center. Under his leadership, the department secured state-of-the-art equipment, including thermal imaging cameras (TICs), EKG monitors, and Auto Pulse devices, significantly improving emergency response capabilities and growing the department’s fleet and reserve apparatus.

Chief Moore’s educational journey includes graduating from Kingman High School and studying at Mohave Community College, Arizona State University, and Grand Canyon University.

Beyond his department roles, Chief Moore served on the AFDA board for ten years, including six years as president. He also contributed to the executive board of the Arizona Fire District Association, further demonstrating his commitment to advancing the fire service statewide.
