LAKE HAVASU CITY — Lake Havasu City has announced that Gabrielle Vera, Director of Parks and Recreation, has been named the recipient of the Robert W. Crawford Young Professional Award by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). This prestigious recognition is part of NRPA’s annual Spotlight Awards, honoring outstanding individuals across the nation who are advancing the field of parks and recreation.

Vera is honored to be officially recognized at the 2025 NRPA Annual Conference this September.

“Receiving the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) Robert W. Crawford Young Professional Award is an incredible honor and a milestone I don’t take lightly,” said Vera. “Only one person across the entire country is selected each year for this award, making it one of the most competitive and meaningful recognitions in the Parks and Recreation field. Winning this award reinforces that showing up with passion, purpose, and persistence truly matters. I love the work I do, and I’m proud of the difference it makes in people’s lives.”

The Robert W. Crawford Young Professional Award is presented annually to a single emerging leader whose dedication, innovation, and impact are helping to shape the future of the profession. Vera’s leadership in Lake Havasu City has resulted in expanded recreational opportunities and stronger community engagement.

“We are thrilled to see Gabby recognized at the national level for the incredible work she’s done throughout her career, and here in Lake Havasu City,” said City Manager Jess Knudson. “Her passion for parks and recreation is reflected in every program, event, and initiative she leads. This award is well-deserved.”
