Flammable propane tank was concern during commercial property fire

KINGMAN – A propane tank venting flammable vapors was a key concern as Kingman Fire Department personnel handled a structure fire on a commercial property on Tuesday, March 24. No one was injured in the incident in at 4050 Stockton Hill Road.

Crews responding just after 11:00 a.m. reportedly encountered a trailer being used as an office and a shed on fire, along with a telephone pole. Fire department public information officer Beth Matthews said a propane tank was venting flammable vapors.

“Fire crews quickly deployed a deck gun to cool the propane tank and reduce the risk of escalation, while simultaneously knocking down the flames on both structures,” Matthews said. “Crews continued applying large amounts of water to the propane tank for approximately 30 minutes to ensure it was sufficiently cooled.”

Firefighters brought the fire under control and no injuries were reported. The fire cause remains under investigation. Dave Hawkins
