Feral Cat Warriors to receive more than 150 shelter cats from flood-impacted Texas

KINGMAN — Feral Cat Warriors (FCW), in partnership with Best Friends Animal Society and Wings of Rescue, is preparing to receive a large group of shelter cats and kittens from Central Texas, following the devastating July 4th floods along the Guadalupe River.

This emergency effort will bring more than 150 cats and kittens into FCW’s care, coordinated with rescue partners throughout Arizona and Nevada. These animals are coming from shelters directly impacted by the disaster—not displaced pets, but adoptable animals who were already in care prior to the flooding. Their relocation is critical to free up space in Texas shelters to house pets displaced by the disaster and increase the chance of reuniting them with their families.

“While this flight will only provide a small amount of relief to our partners in Texas, we are determined to do as much as we possibly can,” said Charles Black, Strategic Operations Leader of Feral Cat Warriors. “I’ve spent the last decade responding to natural disasters and rescuing animals during some of their darkest moments—Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Maria, the California wildfires—and I’ve never seen the need greater than it is right now. We’re calling on our community to step up and help us show Texas that Arizona stands with them.”

To increase the number of cats FCW can accept on this flight, the organization urgently needs the following:

Fosters willing to temporarily house cats and kittens

Volunteers to assist with logistics, care, and transport

Donations of cat food, crates, kennels, and cleaning supplies

Monetary donations to support medical and daily care

The Wings of Rescue flight is scheduled to arrive at AirZona Aircraft Services in Kingman, AZ on Wednesday, July 16th at approximately 11:00 AM MST.

“This mission is a testament to what can be accomplished when communities work together to protect the most vulnerable,” the Feral Cat Warriors said in a statement.  “FCW and its partners remain committed to saving lives—one paw at a time.”
