Oregon man receives probation for assaulting Havasu Door Dash driver

Interior of courtroom

LAKE HAVASU — The assault of a DoorDash driver delivering alcohol to a short-term rental property in Lake Havasu City brings a plea agreement for an Oregon man. The incident occurred May 19 at a property in the 3200 block of Sheik Drive.

Lake Havasu City police reported that 20-year-old Geoffrey Redderson answered the door when the delivery arrived before he retreated within the residence to retrieve cash, ID or determine who placed the order. An unidentified juvenile allegedly dragged the driver inside the rental and tried to take possession of the two bottles of tequila while engaged in an altercation with the victim.

Prosecutor James Schoppmann said Redderson joined the skirmish, wrapping his arms around the victim who was able to wriggle free and escape with the damaged merchandise.

Redderson pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on Monday, July 14. It’ll be designated as a misdemeanor offense provided the defendant successfully completes two year’s probation ordered by Judge Billy Sipe.

Sipe noted the youth of the defendant and lack of previous criminal history. He ordered no further jail time, expressing hope that Redderson learned a valuable lesson by the four days he spent in custody following his arrest.
