Don Pike

Don Pike is survived by his wife of 27 years Barbara Hull Snelling Pike, his five children, her five children and their children and grandchildren.

Don was born November 16, 1934, in Satanta, Haskell Co., Kansas to Clarence Earl and Elsie Mae Wagonseller Pike.  He had two older brothers, Billy Ray and Bobby Gene. He grew up in Kansas and California.  He loved his dad’s dairy in California and spending summers on his uncle and aunt’s farm in Kansas.  This sparked his interest in livestock, in growing things and especially in tractors.  He restored several tractors and used them to clear land, grade the dirt roads off Cottonwood Road, pull neighbors out of the mud and proudly pull floats in parades in Dolan Springs, Meadview, Winslow and Kingman.

Don married Beverley June Minor, June 15, 1953, in San Luis Obispo, California.  They had five children, Richard, Ronald, Glynda, Ray and Russel who are giving him a large posterity of grandchildren and great grandchildren.   He married Barbara on August 1, 1998, in Dolan Springs, Arizona and immediately became Grandpa Don to Chuck, Deborah, David, Daniel, Karen and their children and grandchildren.

Don worked hard all his life.  He spent most of his working years “busting down” tires before the addition of the machines used today.    He retired in 1995 and moved to 5 acres off Cottonwood Rd in the Dolan Springs area.  He loved socializing with and helping the neighbors.  He volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul food bank in Dolan Springs and was nicknamed “snake man” by the ladies there who called on him occasionally to rescue them from snakes on the premises.  He would remove the critters to a safer location for the snakes and the ladies also.

Don was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He especially enjoyed the years he and Barbara spent in the Dolan Springs Branch where he held several callings. He loved going to the temple and doing the work there.   Don and Barbara moved to Kingman in 2019.  The day before he passed away Don was actively serving in his calling as a greeter in the White Cliffs Ward.

The family would like to thank KFD paramedics and the ER staff at KRMC for efficient, compassionate service. Special love and thanks go to the many friends who have reached out at this time.

Services will be June 11, 2025, 10:00 am, graveside at Chloride cemetery. Sutton Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
