Danny Brent Stanley, 77, was born on December 12, 1947 in Casa Grande, Arizona to Norman Lee Stanley and Ruby Irene Holden. In his early school years, Dan attended Corbett Elementary School, Naylor Jr. High, and Palo Verde High School in Tucson, Arizona. Dan graduated from Kingman High School in May of 1967.
Through his early years, Dan worked at several gas stations as a station attendant, to include at his father’s service station in Kingman, Arizona. Dan then worked at Duval Mine from March of 1973 to December of 1981 when it closed. Dan then worked at Lhoist North America (Lhoist Nelson Plant) from May 21, 1984 until he retired on July 20, 2018. Working here is where Dan met some of his closest life-long friends, that he considered to be family.
Dan enjoyed being outdoors and had several hobbies that reflected such. Dan enjoyed fishing, especially at Buckskinner Lake in Williams, Arizona. Dan also enjoyed hunting, especially with his son-in-law James, and his father Norman before his passing. Dan enjoyed camping with his family and eating homemade ice cream with his granddaughters on the camping trips. One of Dan’s favorite family vacations was to Disneyland where he rode every ride with his granddaughters. He also loved weekend trips to the swap meets in town and rarely came home without something new. Dan was the center of several family memories, and he will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. He impacted each person he met and never knew a stranger.
Dan passed away at his home on October 13, 2025. Dan was preceded in death by his father Norman and his mother Ruby. Dan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jackie Stanley, his son Kelly Lightfoot, and his daughter Kari Sumner (James Sumner). He is also survived by his two brothers Matt Stanley (Shelley Stanley) and Dave Stanley (Deanna Stanley). Dan was a wonderful grandfather to his two granddaughters Gabriela Sumner and Karina Sumner, whom he was extremely proud of. Dan is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dan was a strong family man, who would do anything for those he loved.
A celebration of life will be held at the Elk’s Lodge, at 900 Gates Avenue on November 16, 2025 at 1:00 P.M.
