Our Ever-Changing Christmas Story

Dear Editor, Christmas is always changing. The biblical story never changes but your story is always changing. How we celebrate and view the story of Mary and Joseph and the baby Jesus may change throughout life. We view the story one way as children but then the story matures as we age. We all have a lot of Christmas stories. I remember a large family. My mother came from a large family as did my dad. They all had children so the total number of family we felt connected to was great. The years have passed by and my mother…

Local water issues ongoing

Dear Editor, In 2022, state legislation was passed that requires the Arizona Department of Water Resources to complete Supply and Demand reports as an assessment of each groundwater basin in the State of Arizona at least once every five years, with at least six groundwater basin assessments issued by December 1st of each calendar year. The most significant part of your Christmas story

Dear Editor, We often reflect on past Christmases. We look back to the past because we have experienced the past. We haven’t experienced the future. We have hopes and dreams for the future but we don’t know what the future will bring.  Each day we create new memories. What you will remember next Christmas is happening now. Therefore, do the best you can do this month and then you can reflect on another good memory next Christmas season.  Christmas is a time of misery for many who have deceased loved ones. We miss parents, spouses, children and other family members….

We need greater water security for the future

Dear Editor, The Kingman and Mohave County areas have been the poster child for the rural groundwater fight, given the excessive use of our groundwater by foreign companies resulting in devastation to our local residents, businesses and generational farmers. For years, our residents have been sounding the alarm about the unsustainable overuse of our groundwater and the threat it poses on our county’s businesses and economies. The creation of the Governor’s Water Policy Council in the spring was celebrated by so many in the county who were pleading for solutions, and we were extra thrilled when Mohave county experts were…
