Proposed circus ban stirs controversy

Dear Editor, A recent meeting of public versus Kingman City Council concerning an ordinance banning use of exotic animals as entertainment, appears to have been entertaining in its own right. Testimony from those opposed to banning the use of exotic animals for entertainment purposes ranged from . . . doing so would be a slippery slope, loss of entertainment, loss of revenue, and for some odd reason it was suggested people not being able to distinguish the difference between a Hollywood stunt man with his hair on fire and the use of tortured animals performing tricks. My initial question is,…

Thank God for Cops

Dear Editor, This is written with the most sincere thankfulness to each and every Cop. (yes, Cop emphatically and respectfully  capitalized) Every single one of you ladies and gents who put on that uniform, and lay your life on the line for those of us who rely on you to stand between us and evil, are truly heroes and heroines. The gift of a ‘do over’

My wife and I were fortunate enough to live in the house listed on the Historic Registry of places in Kingman. Built in 1910, the house was once the home of the J. Duffy Brown family. The first and former residents of Canada came to Kingman to open a mine. The home, which has always been beautiful, received a badly needed coat of paint during the time that we lived there. Being that it has four different colors as a part of the craftsman style, the project took three weeks to complete. The painters were meticulous in their work, and…

It’s about America, not you

Dear Editor:                                    Many in the House and Senate need to realize this is about American, not them, and their morally corrupt political parties. They are paid high wages to work for America in a fair, sensible, and godly way.  That is not what we are getting for our money now! The safety of America should be the most important thing to our legislators. Is there any common sense left in city mayors and state governors?  What has happened to the education systems across America that turns out such irresponsible leaders?  These leaders cannot take care of their own, yet…

Government Pay Days – Scary Future

by Glenn Mollette  Federal employees working without pay have recently been admonished. We have heard they could borrow money to tide them over. People have said federal workers should have a reserve fund for government shutdowns. Our own massive government doesn’t have a rainy day fund. With our 22 trillion-dollar debt we can’t pay our own workers. If we borrow money as a nation, we borrow it from our own people who are now not even earning a check. We have borrowed about 3 trillion dollars from our Social Security fund thus far. Our government also wants to scale these…
