Dear Editor, On September 16, the Mohave County Board of Supervisors signed a Proclamation designating October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This month is designated to bring awareness to communities of this nationwide epidemic. The goal is to educate, create conversations and create culture changes within the community. Domestic violence is a pattern of controlling behaviors where one person uses their power to control the other. Domestic violence can take many forms, including physical, sexual, emotional, and financial abuse. It is not isolated to any one gender, race, economic situation, or upbringing. Dear Editor, Read Don Heck’s letter from the Sept. 15 edition. While I agree with much of what he espouses; although I question his denigration of the media in general, if the facts are reported and you don’t like what you read / hear, you cannot just lambaste reports as fake news. Dear Editor, Many years back I had loads of faith and trust in our legal system. Sadly to say, I lost faith and I certainly don’t trust them as I once did. Our legal system is way too liberal and they only care for the guilty, and not us American taxpaying citizens. They would rather see us in fear, than let us have justice. Dear Editor, We celebrated “National Responsible Pet Owner Day” at our market on September 21. It was so much fun! We had 12 vendors, 429 human guests and many canine guests including six who came from Mohave County Animal Shelter looking for “Furever ” homes. In addition to the fun with furry friends Pegge Moore demonstrated how to make unique vases from canning jars, acrylic paints, burlap and a few flowers.
