Dear Editor,

Maybe Leslie is comparing the Marshall Plan, after World War 2, that helped rebuild Europe and Japan? A lesson learned after punishing Germany after World War 1. Foreign aid now, as we know it, should in no way be compared.

American taxpayers are struggling to get by as we give money away to countries that despise America. By the way most illegal migrants do not qualify for asylum as an excuse to sneak over our borders. We have so much damage to repair after the previous Administration. Our federal government was never meant to be as huge and out of control as it is now.

We are giving money away and driving up the deficit with no accountability. Is that what it takes for countries to like us? The time is now to shrink our bloated government and make the United States domestic agenda our number 1 priority! In our nation’s Constitution we have the right to impose tariffs on countries goods that are manufactured by cheap labor threatening our labor force and standard of living.

We can’t afford to be taken advantage of any longer. We have so many citizens that are barely getting by or are homeless. We cannot give free money so countries might like us. We should never lower our standard of living when we have the strength and industrial might to succeed. Remember charity begins at home!
