Teen charged with pushing pot to kids

Matthew Swaim

BULLHEAD CITY – A Bullhead City teenager has been arrested for pushing marijuana-laced products to younger kids in the Colorado River community. The Community Policing Section (COPS) of the police department conducted a five-week investigation leading to the arrest of Matthew Swaim, 19.

“COPS received information that an unknown person was selling THC vapes to school children,” said police department public information officer Emily Fromelt. “Swaim was identified as the suspect believed to be responsible for the many THC vapes that were recently seized at the local junior high and high schools.”

Officers reportedly conducted a warrant-based search of Swaim’s residence in the 400 block of Santa Maria Road at about 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 19.

“Several items of evidence consistent with the sales and distribution of THC vapes were seized, as well as a handgun and counterfeit money,” Fromelt said. She said Swaim was taken into custody during a traffic stop in the area of Oliver Drive and Patillo Drive following the search and seizure activity

Fromelt said Swaim used a social media account to arrange the illegal transactions. He initially faces various drug charges and a weapons offense.
