Just look at you

Dear Editor, With all Reverence to our Lord, known first to mankind, as “I am, that I am,” and referred to as Lord, and God almighty, and who later told Moses, that His name was Jehovah.  Lord, Please forgive me and correct me when I err when writing the contents of this work, please, please, believe me, when I say, it was not done intentionally.  As humans we know, from Your word, that You have always been there. You Lord, live forever. And where You stood was all there was and it was You. And then You started your creating,…

Changes on the horizon of local veteran healthcare

Dear Editor, One of the major headaches that local veterans have encountered over the years is geography. This impact is mostly felt in selecting which VA Healthcare system to enroll in, Prescott (VIZN 22) or Las Vegas (VIZN 21). Doesn’t sound like much of a difference unless you have been bounced around in trying to get the health care you need.  Good news! The VA is now looking to review the assignment of the Mohave County from Prescott to Las Vegas. They have established an AIR Commission to review the suggested changes. More information about the commission can be found…

Democracy requires getting off our butts

Dear Editor, In Athens, young adults spent two years in public service. Many over 30 formed a huge city council to make laws for the population. In Rome, citizens had extensive and regular civic duties. Elected officials served only one-year terms, so many would have the opportunity of being leaders. In Israel, land-owning parents administered the law among all relatives, boarders, and workers on their land. Parents taught law and literacy to their children. In England, families contributed labor to the castle guard, just as in America, men rotated duty as night watchmen. Both democracies had extensive militia and jury…

Ukrainian and American pain: We must unplug from Russia and China

Dear Editor, America is no longer buying energy or vodka from Russia. Russians can no longer buy a McDonald’s hamburger. They can’t pay for their gasoline with a Visa, Mastercard, or even an American Express card. One thousand Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants have ceased operations in Russia. How tough can life become? For a better picture of a tough life, watch some of the news clips played daily on most television stations. See what the Russians are doing each day to Ukraine. Hospitals are bombed. Babies are murdered. Cities no longer exist. Tens of thousands have been killed by the Russian…

From the desk of District 1 Supervisor Travis Lingenfelter: Testifying before Natural Resources, Energy, and Water Committee

Dear Editor, I’ll be testifying on Mar. 16 before the Arizona Senate Natural Resources, Energy, and Water Committee in strong support of HB2389: S/E River Water Transfer (Dunn), which prohibits huge hedge funds back East and elsewhere from further commoditization of Colorado River communities’s water to sell to the highest bidder in Central Arizona. Mohave County and the entire Colorado River community are currently fighting the latest such 4th priority Colorado River water transfer attempt by GSC Farm (a subsidiary of Mass Mutual out of Boston) which is pushing to transfer 2,033 acre-feet (662 million gallons) to the Town of…
