WACOG seeks services input

KINGMAN – Western Area Council of Governments (WACOG) is partnering with Regional Center for Border Health (RCBH) for a Focus group to identify challenges / issues people with disabilities and/or their caregivers face as they get older. They are also interested in hearing from advocates and service providers. For example, people who provide I/DD services or professionals who work with I/DD population. The focus group is for individuals at least 18+ years of age. As an incentive we are offering refreshments and a $25 Walmart gift card for each participant. They are accepting only 15 participants. The Focus Group meeting is at the WACOG office,…

Thanksgiving Day Cooking Safety!

The kitchen is the heart of the home especially during Thanksgiving. Entertaining friends and family with lots of other potential distractions are all factors that can contribute to the increased likelihood of home cooking fires. According to the NFPA, Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires, with more than three times the daily average for incidents. Unattended cooking was by far the leading contributing factor to these fires. MCC students share their first-gen stories, celebrate first-gen day 

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College is celebrating National First-Generation College Students Day. A first-generation (first-gen) college student is someone who is the first in their family to attend a higher education institution. At MCC, more than 70% of students are first-generation college students, and many of the College employees were also first-gen.   Students like Le Ann Flores Gomez, Lake Havasu City Campus, and Martha Aguilar, Kingman Campus, are first-generation students.
