Eastern Street Realignment Project Re-Routing Beginning Next Week

KINGMAN, Ariz. – The City of Kingman would like to notify the community that there will be a road closure for the Eastern Realignment to Airway Avenue project beginning on Monday, May 6, 2024. This will include a road closure at Eastern Street (North of Calumet Avenue) and Kenwood Avenue (West of Lomalai Street) from Monday, May 6, 2024 thru Wednesday, July 3, 2024. This closure will allow construction crews to relocate utilities as needed, install new curbs, gutters, sidewalks and asphalt on the newly aligned Eastern Street to Airway Avenue. Nettrour gets 28 years for drugged driving death

Benjamin Nettrour BULLHEAD CITY – A Camp Verde man will serve lengthy incarceration in a drugged driving traffic fatality. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle ordered a 28.5-year prison term for Benjamin Nettrour, 37, during an April 26 sentencing hearing. The Department of Public Safety said Nettrour was northbound on U.S. 93 when the pickup truck he was driving rear-ended a passenger vehicle, pushing it into the median where it rolled 23 miles north of Kingman  last June. A passenger in the vehicle, Angelina Ortega, 52, Chloride, was dead at the scene. Two other passengers were hospitalized with injuries….

No injuries in house fire

LAKE HAVASU CITY – At approximately 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, a fire was reported by the resident in the 2300 block of Palo Verde Blvd N. The occupant discovered smoke and flames in the kitchen and evacuated the residence. The occupants evacuated the house safely. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Caldera convicted of manslaughter in shooting death

Angel Caldera LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City man faces a mandatory prison sentence following his conviction at trial in a shooting death. A Mohave County Superior Court jury found Angel Caldera guilty of manslaughter following deliberation in Kingman on Friday, April 26. The jury declined to convict Caldera, 23, of second-degree murder, favoring instead conviction for the lesser included offense of manslaughter. The panel rejected the self-defense claim offered by Legal Defender Jonathan Robinson. Effort to expand broadband in rural areas takes big step forward

PHOENIX – The state’s goal of expanding broadband internet access in rural areas is taking a big step forward with a public-private partnership. The agreement with eX2 Technology is to operate, maintain and lease space in fiber-optic conduit installed along Interstate 17 and Interstate 19, and being installed later this year along much of Interstate 40.
